Acer: Netbooks to make up 30% of laptop sales

Acer has said that it believes netbooks could account for as much as 30 per cent of all laptop sales in 2009, with the firm promising to ramp up its range of netbooks in the coming months.

"I can see the netbook market being between 15 and 30 per cent of total volume in 2009," Acer’UK country manager for retail, Bobby Watkins told CRN.

"The economic drive of many households could fuel the netbook category," he added. "In terms of how commercial enterprises are reviewing their CapEx budgets, if the people they send on the road only need to communicate, netbooks are a good option."

Watkins also said that the firm was looking to expand its netbook range in the coming months, with it concentrating on what he described as the six key factors consumers are taking into account when purchasing the devices.
