I start my Monday the same as most, with a 6.30am start, and am on the road by 7.40am to take my daughter to school – then it’s on to sunny Swindon.

Once in the office, my day is mostly spent attending meetings; always starting with a latte from our café. My main morning meeting is with our UK business marketing team to work through our performance and to plan activities for our IT Center website and beyond.

After more lattes and more one-to-one meetings with internal stakeholders, lunchtime quickly arrives. I catch up with my colleagues from the UK marketing team for the latest gossip in the canteen.

After lunch, I finally get some quiet time to myself and spend it catching up on the latest news, scanning for good stories on the IT industry and, of course, Intel. I always try to share these and our own site as much as possible across Twitter and LinkedIn.

The early afternoon brings our staff meeting, which is generally a sharing meeting with open discussion and updates to start a busy week for the team. Following this, I spend most of my time on the phone with our PR agency or with publishers getting updates on what is planned for the week.

Having spent 34 years in the IT industry – most of the time working for large departments – I always enjoy speaking with editors, IT architects or other industry professionals.

Squeezing in one last latte before our café shuts, a third of my day is done. I leave the office after five, spending the evening catching up with the family and finishing off any leftover work from the office before setting down for a crime drama on TV with my wife.

The rest of my week is usually more exciting, and is spent outside of the office. They are much faster days that are always different and always unpredictable – and a lot of fun.
