A day in the life of: Charlotte Shone, Retail Account Manger, Panda Security UK

Charlotte Shone tells us what an average day in the office is like for her, with the occasional treat from the cake trolley…

On the occasions when I have an office day, I like to get in bright and early to avoid the Bracknell morning rush and get myself prepared before the start of the day. Checking through my email inbox and catching up on Linkedin comes first, so nobody is held up waiting.

There’s no such thing as a typical day, but most begin with friendly banter as the rest of ‘team Panda’ arrives. The fact that we’re in an open-plan office is one of the things I love most about working at Panda Security – it allows the whole team to get involved in the morning catch-up.

Each Monday morning kicks off at 8.45am with the retail team meeting involving all departments, to quickly get up to speed on the week ahead and give any input. Things can move pretty fast around here, especially with the upcoming launch of our 2015 range. It’s an exciting time with the advancements it will offer.

Along with the other members of the retail team we’ve been busy testing the betas, joining WebEx with the product team at our HQ in Spain, liaising with project teams organising upcoming deals and being hassled by marketing every five minutes trying to get me to do their job. But in all seriousness it’s a really exciting time for the whole retail team, not just in the UK, but internationally. Lunch comes courtesy of the on premise restaurant which unfortunately offers some healthy ‘rabbit food’ options so I have no excuse for junk food, however there is always the temptation of the afternoon cake trolley.

The afternoons are filled preparing for upcoming visits to our resellers, liaising on stock and samples to be sent out and working on new concepts and quotes. As a flexible organisation, Panda works closely with clients to give them a solution that works for them rather than simply pulling a box off the shelf.

As my role is solely focused on building Panda Security relations with channel partners delivering our consumer solutions to their clients, a large proportion of my time is spent out of the office visiting our distributors Entatech, Westcoast, Exertis Gem and Blue Solutions and spending time with their clients to secure opportunities.

In other words, I like to keep myself busy.
