A study has revealed that the younger demographic would be completely lost without their smartphone.
Research carried out by Telenav, developer of free sat nav app Scout, has found that 50 per cent of 18-24-year-olds would feel lost if they were out and could not get online.
It also revealed that 85 per cent of 18-24-year-olds can’t read a map and spend 24 minutes everyday on average using mobile internet.
It also showed that 45 per cent of Brits use their phone to navigate, while only half still wear a watch.
Marcus Thielking, managing director at Telenav, said: “With so many apps placing a heavy or total reliance on an internet connection we’ve seen how problems can arise when you can’t get online – services that were previously taken for granted suddenly become all but useless, which could leave people in a tight spot.”
The research also showed that Brits look at their phones every 6.5 minutes and only 57 per cent have an alarm clock, with users relying on their smartphone instead.
This news comes after research from Gartner discovered more than 50 per cent of users will use tablets or smartphones to carry out online tasks by 2018.
