BT and Everything Everywhere test LTE technology

4G mobile trial begins in Cornwall

UK mobile network operators Everything Everywhere and BT have begun the first trial of 4G mobile network technology known as LTE.

Based in St Newlyn East and South Newquay, the trial provides mobile and fixed home broadband to around 200 customers.

The move follows a two-month lab trial that was designed to prove out the idea that different companies could share radio resources.

The technology is capable of speeds of up to 100Mbit/second and the trial will run into next year. Commercial 4G mobile services aren’t expected to begin until 2013.
