Surge in demand sees drives outsell 160GB and 120GB varieties in August for first time

More 250GB hard drives were been snapped up by consumers in August than ever before, according to the latest research from Context.

The report showed that in six countries, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Spain and the UK, 250GB drives outsold other popular hard disk sizes, such as 160GB and 120GB for the first time.

Accounting for 23 per cent of the market, 250GB hard drives beat its rival sizes, but only just with 160GB drives accounting for 22 per cent of the market and 120GB drives, 21 per cent.
