Westcoast-owned firm acquires print and consumables specialist for undisclosed sum

Orion buys XMA

Orion Media Marketing has today confirmed that it has purchased the IT supplies and hardware distributor, XMA.

Orion, which is owned by Westcoast, acquired the consumables specialist for an undisclosed sum.

Speaking about the deal, XMA’s chairman Kevin Mansworth said: "This is tremendous news for the future of the company. We have become part of the most successful IT products distribution organisation in the UK."

"XMA is already a very successful company in its own right, but you always have to look to the future. This deal will deliver enormous benefits and will support the growth and development plans for both the XMA business and the wider Group."

Cliff Irwin, Orion’s managing director, added: "It has been clear from the beginning of the negotiations that there are considerable growth opportunities from bringing these two well established brands together. Our management styles are clearly aligned and both companies can bring benefits to the other."

Irwin stressed, however, that the companies would continue as normal, and that customers would see little or no change.

"The two businesses will run as two separate entities as both of them have well established customer relationships and we don’t see any reason to disrupt that," he added.

Irwin will have combined executive responsibility for both businesses, while Kevin Mansworth will continue to serve as chairman, and will join the senior management team at Orion.
