PCs, workstations and server specialist Novatech has further strengthened its commitment to reducing e-waste by refurbished over 200 computers for Exmouth Community College.
Exmouth Community College aims to upgrade and replace IT equipment approximately every four years and had over 200 Novatech PCs needing to be replaced. In support of the company’s objectives to reduce electronic landfill waste, after working with their dedicated account manager Megan Gibson, Novatech proposed the full refurbishment of the existing computers as a more environmentally friendly and cost-effective solution.
“Electronic waste is becoming the fastest-growth waste stream in the world. At Novatech we are committed to reducing the throw-away culture within the technology sector by encouraging our customers to refurbish or recycle their old devices,” commented Mark Tomlinson, Novatech’s head of managed sales.
“Many components in old computers can be reused in the fabrication of new computers, so we will always prefer to take this route in order to limit the impact on the environment and reduce the amount of e-waste that ends up at landfill.”
Novatech has been providing hardware and support to schools, colleges and universities for over 30 years. Recently, it has become increasingly apparent that IT and technology are both vitally important for the development and progression of students. With the help of Novatech, Exmouth Community College has invested heavily in IT suites equipped with both the latest hardware and software for the use of all students across the college.
Exmouth Community College’s previous PCs were Intel i2 2100, 4GB DDR3 and 500GB HDD, and then upgraded to the latest Intel 9th Generation i5 Processor, 8GB DDR4 Memory and 120GB Solid State Hard Drive with the Shape the Future OS.
Novatech says it has a commitment to protecting the environment and follows an environmental policy in all its business operations.
