WRITEit converts handwriting into text characters in real-time

New Lenovo WRITEit tech improves handwriting on PCs and tablets

Lenovo’s new WRITEit software allows users to write nearly anywhere on a pen-enabled device’s screen, including PCs and tablets.

The application works with a select number of Lenovo Windows 8 devices with digitizer, active pen or AnyPen technology including the ThinkPad Yoga, ThinkPad Helix, ThinkPad 10 and Yoga Tablet 2, delivering real-time feedback and correction as the user writes.

WRITEit lets users write content into virtually any field that accepts typed input, including web browsers and even apps that don’t have native pen support.

All handwritten content is converted into text characters straight away, plus it boasts an automatic suggestion tool that offers alternatives to unrecognised words.

Mark Cohen, VP of ecosystem and monetisation business group at Lenovo, said: “While touch technology has fundamentally changed the way consumers use their PCs and other devices today, handwriting technology has lagged behind, until now with WRITEit.

“Users told us they wanted a more natural, intuitive and accurate handwriting experience, and that’s exactly what WRITEit delivers.

The application is available as a free download from the WRITEit website.
