Online publication joins the likes of Hexus.net

Dennis Publishing sells Bit-Tech to David Ross

Online tech publisher David Ross has acquired consumer site Bit-Tech.Net.

The website will be managed and published by David Ross and his team with immediate effect. The commercial team will be led by publishing veteran John Pudney.

“The opportunity to expand upon the already strong Bit-Tech brand by working with another proven publisher in the tech space is incredibly exciting” he said. “We’re looking forward to publishing an even better site for our users and our partners.”

"This represents another milestone in the groups’ ambitious plans for expansion as the tech and enthusiast market continues to grow," added David Ross in a statement.

Ross also founded specialist site HEXUS.net 15 years ago and built the business to become the ‘go-to website for tech’, growing a forum with over 270,000 members and an editorial team producing in-depth reviews.

In 2006 he set up TV and digital creative agency BOXFX to assist clients with the demand for video content. In 2013 the team moved to a new studio in St. Albans to enable expansion. It works with the likes of Acer, ARM, BenQ, Corsair, NVIDIA and Mad Catz on video content and apps which for global campaigns.

David Ross said: “We’ve built up a loyal and dedicated readership within the technology market. For a couple of years I’ve been looking for a complimentary publication which could speak to the pure play enthusiast, the extreme modder and strengthen our existing portfolio. The Bit-Tech acquisition means that together with HEXUS.net we can offer manufacturers a comprehensive route to market."

Paul Rayner, Publisher at Dennis Publishing, commented: "We feel this is the right decision for Dennis Publishing, as we’ve taken the brand as far as we can at this time. David Ross and his team are a natural partner for us to sell to.

"Their passion and knowledge made it a good fit and they have the desire to take Bit-Tech forward.”
