Revel Systems says this may be the only choice for retailers in the future

Cloud-based POS ‘the future of retail’

Cloud-based point-of-sale (POS) systems are "the future of retail" and may be the only choice for stores, says iPad POS provider Revel Systems.

Lisa Falzone, CEO and co-founder, told PCR it’s important for tech and PC retailers to lead the way with POS based on new technology: "A cloud-based POS system is definitely the future of retail, but it may also only be the only choice. Windows XP will no longer be supported after April, so many legacy POS systems will no longer be PCI compliant.

"Revel Systems was built on iOS to be PCI compliant and be free of any limitations of the windows platform.

"The shift in the last few years has been from hardware to software, and from closed to open API systems. Revel has both. We use apple iPad’s since they are familiar to people, and training is a breeze. The devices are durable, very responsive, look great, and if anything breaks we can remotely push software to any new iPad purchased at a store."

Revel’s POS can also be connected to Kitchen Display Systems (KDS) or digital menu boards so that retailers and stores can offer in-store advertising.

Revel has channel partners in the UK and recently integrated with PayPal for mobile ordering in the US.

Revel has also made a $1.2 million investment in customer support, which will provide a 24-hour service worldwide with all calls being answered within 60 seconds.
