A new pair of headphones has been developed that can control the functions of a digital audio player by interpreting facial movements.
“An iPod can start or stop music when the wearer sticks his tongue out, like in the famous Einstein picture,” Kazuhiro Taniguchi of Osaka University’s Graduate School of Engineering Science told AFP (via PC Advisor.) “If he opens his eyes wide, the machine skips to the next tune. A wink with the right eye makes it go back.”
Ominously, the headphones will automatically play cheerful music if it detects that the user isn’t smiling enough.
