Survey finds strong majority wouldn?t expand their gaming portfolio

Most PC retailers don?t see a future in games

A survey conducted on behalf of PCR has found that 61 per cent of retailers wouldn’t consider expanding their games offering.

When asked if they would consider expanding their games software portfolio or stocking console products, only 19 per cent responded positively, with 20 per cent saying they weren’t sure.

There are a number of reasons why this might be the case, chief among these is the strong competition offered by download services, such as Steam, or non-domiciled e-tailers like Amazon.
