iPhone-maker Apple shipped 1.1 million 11 and 13-inch MacBook Air notebooks during the final quarter of 2010 according to an AppleInsider report.
Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of Concord Securities confirmed the sales figures of Apple’s ultra-thin notebooks, pointing to strong demand and a successful launch of the new MacBook despite general erosion of the notebook market.
Based on the self-reported 2.9 million notebooks shipped by Apple in the same period, the MacBook Air sales figures mean than the ultra-thin market segment now accounts for 40 per cent of Apple’s notebook sales.
The MacBook Air sales were 63 per cent higher than the Concord Securities analyst initially expected.
