Decision puts pay to 20 year deal as both companies admit their 'strategies are no longer aligned'

Lexmark and Northamber end distribution agreement

Lexmark has revealed that its distribution relationship with Northamber is to end after the two firms concluded that it was no longer economically viable.

Speaking to Microscope, Lexmark’s channel director Marcus Harvey said that the decision to end the 20-year partnership had been taken after both companies agreed that the volumes being shipped were no longer enough to maintain a commercial viable operation and that the two company’s strategies were no longer aligned.

"It was the right time to consolidate our business and reduce the number of distributors that we work with," he told the magazine.

"The volumes of business that we were doing through Northamber and the resources it took to manage the partnership [did not warrant us continuing to work together]."

Only yesterday, Northamaber told the City that it was unhappy with the level of support that certain vendors had been giving to the company during the recession and that it would be revaluating its vendor deals in the coming months.
