‘Cloak and dagger’ Apple yet to reveal UK pricing

iPhone 5C and 5S deals: UK networks await info from Apple

UK mobile network providers are waiting on Apple to release UK pricing details of its new iPhone 5C and 5S models, following the devices’ reveal yesterday.

American prices for both phones were announced by Apple at the press event. The 5S will cost from $199 (£123) for 16GB of storage to $399 (£254) for 64GB, on a two-year contract. Without a contract, the 5S will cost between $649 (£549) and $849 (£709).

The 5C, which will not be available off-contract, will cost either $99 (£63) for 16GB or $199 (£127) for 32GB on a two-year contract.

UK networks are waiting to hear from Apple on the deals and prices they will be available to offer to customers when the 5C goes on preorder this Friday (September 13th). The 5S won’t be available to preorder at all, releasing alongside the 5C on September 20th.

‘Apple is very cloak and dagger about it all,’ said one sales representative from mobile network Three.

Three, O2, Vodafone and EE all stated that details about 5C and 5S contracts would be come in towards the end of the week, likely to arrive on Friday in time for customers to place preorders for the 5C.

“It’s going to be hectic,” said the Three employee about the release.

Even Apple’s own stores are waiting to hear from their American parent.

“We’ll know contracts and details once the phones come in,” one Apple Store employee said. “Nothing before then.”
