King’s Cross and Warren Street Tube stations now have wi-fi available at their ticket offices, escalators and platforms.
Tomorrow (Friday) will see Oxford Circus and Green Park Tube stations go live, with Victoria and Euston following on Saturday.
Virgin Media will run the service and intends to have 80 stations with internet access by the end of July.
Mayor of London Boris Johnson commented: "Our partnership with Virgin Media to make wi-fi available on Tube platforms will be of tremendous benefit as building world class connectivity is critical to supporting new businesses and the jobs they create, especially in the high-tech and creative sectors."
PCR reported last week that the free service will become pay-as-you-go after the Olympics and the Paralympics finish, and Virgin Media customers will be offered continued access as part of their subscriptions.
It has now been revealed that non-payers will be able to access a limited site, which will show online travel information and a selection of free news and entertainment.
