Overclockers UK: We want to increase our education and public sector sales

Perhaps best known for its gaming builds, Overclockers UK has revealed to PCR that it’s looking to grow its presence within the education and public sector markets.

OCUK attended this year’s Bett show for the very first time, and we chatted to PR manager Steven Levitt about the firm’s plans for the sector.

“Bett provides a fantastic opportunity for us to showcase our products and solutions for the educational sector. It is a great way for us to reach out to new customers,” said Levitt.

“With our heritage in building custom PCs for the consumer market it was very apparent early on that we could also provide similar products, solutions and services in to the educational sector, covering primary schools all the way through to red brick universities.”

Levitt revealed that around 50 per cent of OCUK’s B2B sales are into the education and public sector. “We are planning to increase our coverage and sales into these sectors, hence our attendance at Bett.”

At the tech-ed show, OCUK decided to showcase its high-end RENDA workstation designed for research, engineering and CAD departments, a small form factor desktop PC solution designed for schools that need space and power savings, a 3D printer, and the Intel Compute Stick that can turn your TV into a PC.

“We showcased a few of our own unique solutions, rather than just vanilla products from the tier 1 vendors that we can also provide,” said Levitt. “We are trying to show that we have scale to our solutions.”

OCUK recently told PCR its thoughts on virtual reality the Oculus Rift pricing.

"The price is realistic for a new technology, although probably higher than many were expecting. For the best VR experience, you need a high end PC so the overall cost will be restrictive,” said Steven Levitt, PR manager for Overclockers UK.

Scan Computers also offered up its thoughts on the subject. Find out what they think about VR going mainstream here.
