Tech Data becomes exclusive UK distributor for Ballistix

Distributor Tech Data has been appointed as the sole UK provider of Ballistix memory products. The distie says that Ballistix has become a ‘defined brand’ in its own right within the Crucial group.

There are three products featuring across the range: Ballistix Sport DDR3 and DDR4 modules, which are aimed at performance enthusiasts and gamers who want to make their systems faster and more responsive, as well as the Ballistix Elite and Tactical products offer UDIMM options for upgrading PC or Mac desktops or mobiles.

Ballistix also has ‘exciting plans’ to expand the range over the next few months.

Adam Lee, PC components category manager for Tech Data, says the products will give system builders and retailers even more opportunities to boost sales to PC enthusiasts and gamers.

“We have a great long-standing relationship with Crucial and by making it a distinct brand, the company is demonstrating its commitment to Ballistix and the many customers who offer it in their shops, on their web sites and as a key component of their gaming systems," he said.

“We see excellent potential to help our customers grow Ballistix sales, and as the exclusive distributor for the brand, we’ll be able to provide additional focus and support for the whole range."

Tech Data will make these Ballistix products available via its InTouch e-commerce platform.

This deal could be seen as a statement of intent from Tech Data, which has not historically placed a great focus on the PC gaming and performance market. It may pave the way for the distributor to supply more performance products in the future.
