Entatech says new appointment ‘signifies improved governance and controls’ at distie

Entatech UK has announced the appointment of GT (Grant Thornton) as the new auditors for the distributor.

GT replaces Simmons Gainsford, which had been the original auditors for Entatech for nearly 20 years.

Enta says the deal signifies improved governance at the distie. The news comes after MD Dave Stevinson (pictured, left) secured ownership of the company following its tax dispute with HMRC.

Stevinson said: “We will be working with Grant Thornton’s Birmingham-based team on consultancy, audit and tax.

"We believe the introduction of an advisor with the reputation of Grant Thornton signifies the improved governance and controls that we wish to impose on our business. This is to complement our own improved controls and financial rigour imposed by our financial director, Rob Davis (pictured right), and his team."

Grant Thornton is a network of independent accounting and consulting firms, providing assurance, tax and advisory services to businesses.

On the recent appointment of GT, Davis commented: “Grant Thornton are ranked number five in terms of global fee income and have a dedicated office in close proximity to our HQ, in Birmingham.

"We felt that given their size and level of experience, they would be perfectly placed to add value in terms of controls review, systems support and proactive tax-planning.”

Davis joined Entatech in March 2015, at the same time Stevinson joined the business. Enta says Davis has been ‘instrumental’ in the transformation of the business.

Davis qualified with PWC (nee Coopers & Lybrand) as a charted account and boasts more than 20 years’ PQE in a variety of senior financial roles.

Stevinson concluded: “Rob brings with him relevant sector experience, as well as a controls background enabling him to introduce improved financial rigor and process to all aspects of Entatech’s activities. A recent focus has been on improving cash management and adding clarity and depth to the company’s business reporting."

David Munton, partner at Grant Thornton UK LLP, commented: "We are passionate about working with growing and ambitious businesses and are therefore delighted to have been appointed to work alongside Entatech as the group embarks upon the next stage of its journey."
