AOC enters the virtual reality fray with its own headset

Display vendor AOC is presenting its first virtual reality head-mounted display at Gamescom in Cologne this week.

For AOC, the entry into this market is a ‘natural step’, says Stefan Sommer, EMEA director of marketing and business management.

“As a subsidiary of the world’s largest display manufacturer, we at AOC have always been at the forefront of developments in the display sector, be they desk- or head-mounted," he said.

"I am sure that our new VR headset is only the beginning of a fascinating development and that AOC customers can look forward to even more exciting products in the not too distant future.”

Visitors to the Gamescom event in Germany this week can preview the prototype of the new AOC VR headset, in the Game Industry Business Lounge in hall 2.2, booth A-040.

Earlier this week, Intel unveiled its own ‘Project Alloy’ VR headset prototype, and Oculus announced the UK price and release date for the Rift headset, along with its first retail partners.
