Latest instalment will use the gameplay template from Angry Birds Space

Angry Birds: Star Wars game coming November 8th

Rovio has launched a teaser video for its new Angry Birds: Star Wars game, calling it their ‘biggest and best game to date’.

The latest instalment in the Angry Birds franchise will be released on November 8th for iOS and Android and will see the red bird is become Luke Skywalker and will features appearances from Princess Leia, Han Solo, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Chewbacca – as well as The Dark Lord of the Sith himself, Darth Vader.

"They are not Angry Birds dressed up as Star Wars characters," Lucasfilm’s president of licensing and consumer products marketing Paul Southern stated. "They are characters in their own right."

Angry Birds: Star Wars will use the gameplay template from Angry Birds Space, with the planets based on recognisable film locales, such as Luke’s homeworld of Tatooine and the Ice Planet Hoth.

With Rovio having already sold $25 million worth of Angry Birds plush toys so far, it is no surprise that a sizeable Angry Birds: Star Wars merchandise push is also planned.
