BenQ has appointed Ben Whitaker as Education Technology Consultant.
Whitaker begun his career as a teacher in 2007 and subsequently becoming Assistant Principle: Head of Sixth Form. During his 12 years of teaching, Ben saw firsthand the advancement of online resources such as Youtube and the changing role of educators and classroom contact time.
Recognising early on that the education sector needed to embrace digital innovation, Ben became a Google for Education Certified Educator, Trainer and Innovator before joining award-winning #1 in the UK’s performance tables, Burnley College as a Curriculum Manager and Digital Transformation Lead, where he took on responsibility for apprenticeships, adult education, as well as business and digital courses.
Passionate about improving the student experience using interactive and immersive technologies, Ben proactively assisted colleagues in identifying, defining and overcoming the digital hurdles they faced and led the transition to Google Classroom by implementing BenQ Interactive Displays. In 2020 Ben was shortlisted for Digital Innovator of the Year Award at the Pearson National Teaching Awards.
Royce Lye, Managing Director at BenQ UK and Ireland said: “Ben has a passion for education technology and a proven track record of being at the cutting edge of innovation. We are very pleased to have him as part of our team to bring together forward-thinking educators and our solutions for creating engaging learning experiences.
“Initially, Ben will be taking to the road with the BenQ Bus visiting schools, academies, colleges and universities and running training courses on-board that demonstrate how our integrated hardware and software solutions bring dynamism and engagement into learning environments, whilst connecting to wider digital ecosystems to streamline teaching.”
Ben is a host of the popular Edufuturists podcast, where educators and thought leaders from around the globe share their experiences and ideas about best practice and the future of education.
Ben Whitaker, Ed Tech Consultant at BenQ UK and Ireland explains: “I can’t wait to get out on the BenQ Bus to talk about the future of education technology. Covid started a digital revolution in teaching with everyone needing to become technologists and masters of blended learning overnight. We want to look at these developments, capture these new ways of thinking and working and share how BenQ’s solutions are driving collaboration forwards.”
