Orange partners with Onfido on self-service identity verification

Orange and Onfido, are partnering to automate the verification process for Orange Flex, making it faster and easier to sign up for a mobile plan. Onfido’s technology uses artificial intelligence (AI) and facial biometrics to verify users’ identities.

Onfido will supply its document verification and facial biometric solution for the Orange Flex account creation flow.

So far the companies claim the results of the partnership have been greatly beneficial with a 90% success rate of document verification, lower manually fix data errors – and Orange Flex says it’s better protected from bad actors.

It now takes users on average less than 10 minutes to sign up for a contract.

Orange Flex users can join by simply taking a picture of their government-issued ID and a selfie. Using AI technology, Onfido verifies the user’s real identity by analysing the photo ID, checking that it is genuine and not fraudulent and then matching it against the selfie image. This ensures the person is the legitimate owner and physically present.

“Nowadays, customers are looking for solutions and services that are easily available – just the way they need them and whenever they need them, fully online. Onfido helps us bridge that gap, enabling us to know our customers in a fully online manner,” said Artur Stankiewicz, Chief Marketing and Digital Officer, Orange Poland.

“Telecos and consumers should no longer have to compromise on customer experience, accuracy and security,” said Reuben Sagar, Regional Director at Onfido. “In today’s digital age, users should be able to easily prove their real identity while knowing it is secure which is why we’re pleased to be partnering with Orange Flex. Delivering access to digital services with safety and user experience at the forefront.”
