Target Components has boosted its sales force by taking on five new account managers despite COVID lockdowns, as the distributor sees demand and sales surge across its customer base.
Sam Clague, Karen Turner, Sam Claypole and Craig Jones have taken roles within the main Sales Team, while Daniel Kerr has been appointed Account Manager within Target’s dedicated B2B division, Servers Plus.
“COVID and the lockdowns have certainly made the process different” said Target’s MD, Paul Cubbage. “One positive is the high calibre of candidates looking for a fresh challenge at the moment – possibly because they’ve been furloughed, are concerned about job security or are unhappy with the way their employers have handled the pandemic generally. That’s a great boost when you’re growing rapidly and expanding the team.”
But the pandemic has also thrown up some new challenges, according to Cubbage. “Getting people up to speed, and particularly embedding the Target culture and customer care standards, when most of us are working remotely really makes you think outside the box. It’s one of those COVID ‘new normal’ things we’d never have considered a year ago, but we’re delighted how well it’s gone and how well the new starters have settled in. And we’re getting lots of positive feedback from customers, which is always nice.”
Target’s recruitment drive hasn’t ended yet, with the distributor still currently recruiting for “ideally, two or three more” according to Cubbage.
