Novatech has announced it will be supporting the University of Portsmouth at EGX 2019.
EGX is the UK’s largest video gaming event, this year taking place at ExCeL London between the 17th and 20th October.
Over the course of 2019, Novatech has been working closely with members of the University of Portsmouth’s Enterprise Gaming course, giving students opportunities to work with real industry clients. One project that both Novatech and UoP students have worked on together was to create a first-of-its-kind portable motion simulator to be used for Royal Navy Reserve training.
At this years EGX event, the UoP will be showcasing Novatech’s 3 DoF motion simulator designed for the Royal Navy. Throughout the duration of this three-day gaming event, there will be a dedicated area to support the education sector within gaming, which is where Portsmouth University will be located.
Novatech will be providing Portsmouth University with all the technical equipment required to successfully demonstrate the motion simulator. All members of the UoP who worked on the development of the motion RHIB simulator are now in full-time employment within the industry as this project gave them critical hands-on trade experience, said Novatech.
Paul Hobbs from Novatech commented: “ Everyone involved in this project, including the Royal Navy, and the fantastic students and staff from the University put in an enormous amount of effort in to make this RHIB simulator possible. Here at Novatech we are so proud of the outcome and to see the university demonstrating our creation at events like EGX is fantastic.”
