Fujitsu unveils fi-7800 and fi-7900 production scanners

Fujitsu company PFU has announced the launch of the fi-7800 (pictured) and fi-7900 A3 production scanners, the latest devices in Fujitsu’s flagship fi series.

Designed for organisations requiring high-productivity, volume document management solutions, the new additions to the range promise to minimise manual maintenance and enable continuous high-volume scanning for multiple paper formats.

“Technology is the key driver of productivity gains in the workplace, and digital leaders are looking for ways to automate processes and differentiate themselves,” explained Mike Nelson, senior vice president, PFU (EMEA) Limited.

“We’ve launched the fi-7800 and fi-7900 to appeal to our customers working in high-pressure environments, where their business productivity depends on using technology to enable extremely high levels of throughput, reliability and consistency.”

The fi-7800 and fi-7900 are designed for use in environments where paper-heavy processes are the norm; from the digitisation of archived documents in the legal sector to manufacturers processing stock movements.

The new Automatic Separation Control enhances PFU’s paper management technology, significantly reducing the need for manual roller adjustments. Freeing users from multifeeds and paper pick-up issues helps eliminate mispicks, and rescans, ensuring continuous, uninterrupted operation leading to improved business efficiency for clients.

The daily cleaning mode ensures longer product life by helping users clean the glass surfaces and rollers correctly. The scanners both incorporate LED lighting, which illuminates the inner workings of the device to make manual cleaning quick and straightforward when required.

Both devices also make use of PaperStream IP software, which enhances the quality of scanned images by removing stains, imprints and watermarks, supporting onward processes such as OCR (Optical Character Recognition).

The PaperStream Capture technology recognises different document types and barcodes to automatically extract key data points and name, sort and distribute documents, thus speeding up processing.

PFU offers the fi-7800 and fi-7900 with a service offering; maintenance, cleaning and consumables are all provided in a single predictable cost.
