Acer introduces Predator Orion 5000 desktop, Nitro 7 gaming notebooks, new Chromebooks and more

At its global event in New York on Thursday 11th April, Acer unveiled a whole host of new products. Here we run down some of the biggest announcements:

Predator Orion 5000 (pictured above)

Acer announced new additions across its growing Predator line of gaming products. The new Predator Orion 5000 desktop PC powered by Windows 10 is a mid-tower targeting hardcore gamers, with Intel’s latest Z390 chipset, 9th Gen Intel Core i9-9900K processor, and features an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 GPU.

With the extreme processor the Orion 5000 has under the hood, a Cooler Master CPU Liquid Cooler regulates temperature to maximise peak performance. Strategically-placed intake and exhaust fans as well as a shrouded power supply unit outfitted with its very own removable dust filter ensure each internal component of the Orion tower stays cool during extended gaming sessions.

Predator monitor

Acer’s Predator LFGD (Large format gaming display) monitor (CG437K P) measures an astounding 43-inches. Designed for hardcore PC and console gaming enthusiasts looking for ultra-high definition (3840 x 2160), the 4K monitor features a fast 144Hz refresh rate for incredibly smooth and tear-free imagery, essential for tracking objects as they zip across the screen. The monitor’s AdaptiveSync feature adapts to the frame rate of the outputting device, resulting in uninterrupted gameplay so users can concentrate on the task at hand.

Predator Helios 700 Notebook

Acer unveiled two new Predator Helios gaming notebooks. The all-new Predator Helios 700 includes a unique HyperDrift keyboard that slides forward, allowing increased airflow directly through the top of the notebook, enabling gamers to push the powerful components to their highest potential. The redesigned Predator Helios 300 includes a sleek modern look and is powered by either up to an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 with Max-Q Design, or the latest GeForce GTX GPUs, yet still retains its budget-friendly price tag.

Chromebook 715 and 714

Acer has introduced two new premium Acer Chromebook lines, the Acer Chromebook 715 and Acer Chromebook 714, designed to help employees work in the cloud more securely and efficiently. Both new Acer Chromebooks have a premium all-aluminum chassis that delivers military-grade (U.S. MIL-STD 810G 1 ) durability, as well as an integrated fingerprint reader, and Citrix Ready Certification. In addition, both new Acer Chromebooks give cloud workers the productivity-boosting features that will help them work more efficiently, including Full HD displays and up to 8th Gen Intel Core processors for exceptional mobile performance, and up to 12 hours of battery life.

TravelMate P6 Series Notebook

The Acer TravelMate P614-51 sports a premium quality magnesium-aluminum alloy chassis that is stronger and lighter than standard aluminum alloys at the same thickness. It also gives the laptop a sleek and modern aesthetic. Weighing just 2.4 pounds (1.1 kg) and measuring only 0.62 inches (16.6 mm), it’s easy to take on the road. With up to 20 hours 1 of battery life, professionals can stay productive on transcontinental flights or work through two full days on the go without having to recharge. This high-performance notebook can also be charged up to 50 percent in less than 45 minutes.

Nitro 5 and Nitro 7 Gaming Notebooks

The new Nitro 7 gaming laptop will turn heads with its sleek, mobile metal design measuring 19.9 1 mm (0.78 inches) thin with a 78 percent screen-to-body ratio and up to 7 hours of battery life. The Nitro 5 gaming laptop has an 80 percent screen-to-body ratio thanks to its 7.18 mm (0.28 inches) narrow-bezel design. Both laptops adopt 9th Intel Core processors 1 and the latest NVIDIA graphics with fast refresh rates at 144Hz and a low latency of just 3ms.

“The new Nitro 7 and Nitro 5 gaming notebooks prove that performance gaming doesn’t need to break the bank,” said James Lin, General Manager, Notebooks, IT Product Business, Acer. “Gamers now have more features packed in sleek designs to elevate their gaming experiences.”
