Huawei CFO arrested in Canada

Meng Wanzhou, Huawei’s chief financial officer, deputy chair, and daughter of the founder of the Chinese telecoms firm, has been arrested in Canada.

The BBC reports that Manshou was arrested in Vancouver on 1st December. Details have not been released but the US has been investigating Huawei over possible violation of sanctions against Iran.

The report stats that China’s embassy in Canada protested at the arrest and demanded her release, and Huawei has claimed it has little information about the charges and was "not aware of any wrongdoing by Ms Meng".
