Cisco to acquire Ensoft

Cisco has announced its intent to acquire Ensoft, a privately-held UK company that provides software solutions for service provider networks.

Ensoft currently develops IOS XR features for Cisco, and will continue to support networking software offered through Cisco.

“Within Cisco, the Ensoft team can more effectively help accelerate development efforts related to Cisco’s network OS transformation,” says the company.

Ensoft employees will join Cisco’s Service Provider Networking Group led by its SVP and GM Sumeet Arora.

Cisco’s VP of corporate business development announced the news over at the Cisco Blog.

“I’m pleased to announce Cisco’s intent to acquire Ensoft Ltd. to further our commitment to simplify service provider networks through automation and programmability,” he said, revealing that the company expects the acquisition to be completed in the second quarter of fiscal year 2019.
