Apple expected to unveil larger-screened gold iPhone next week

As the Apple Special Event 2018 fast approaches, rumours have been circulating as to what will be announced at the “Gather round” unveiling on September 12th.

While it is expected that there will be updated iPad, Mac and Apple Watch products, the star of the rumour mill, as per usual, is the iPhone.

It is thought that the event will unveil an upgraded iPhone X with 5.8-inch OLED display and a cheaper model featuring an LCD screen.

Sky reports that analyst believe a “gold-coloured successor to the iPhone X”, while Evening Standard notes that a bigger iPhone is on the cards, featuring a 6.5-inch screen, making it one of the biggest mainstream phones on the market.

ES also believes that the new iPhone range, which is likely to be named iPhone XS, will mark the end of TouchID, with all new models using FaceID instead.

Whatever Apple has planned, we will only have to wait until September 12th to find out.

The Apple Special Event takes place at the Steve Jobs Theatre at the new Apple Park campus in Cupertino, California. And you can watch all the action unfold live at 10am PDT (7pm GMT) at https://www.apple.com/apple-events/september-2018/
