Apple reportedly working on noise-cancelling AirPods and studio-quality headphones

Next year could see Apple release a big upgrade to its earphones range, with noise-cancelling AirPods.

Bloomberg says people close to the matter have revealed that the new models will also be water resistant and will have a further range than the current models.

Apple earphones’ noise-leaking issues have always been somewhat of a bugbear for fans of the brand, so it seemed like it would only be a matter of time until they upgraded this particular sticking point.

The report also suggested that Apple is looking to add a number of other features to its AirPods headphones in the future, including a heart-rate monitor and biometric sensors.

An upgrade to the AirPods isn’t the only audio-related rumour coming from the Apple camp. Bloomberg’s report also states that the company will be introducing studio-quality over-ear headphones in 2019.

“Those will compete with pricey models from Bose Corp. and Sennheiser,” claimed someone close to the matter. “They will use Apple branding and be a higher-end alternative to the company’s Beats line.”

Apparently, Apple originally intended to introduce the headphones this year, but development challenges have push the launch back next year.
