Exertis poaches Tech Data business director to head up Innovation division

Exertis has strengthened its Innovation team by appointing Paul Jacobs to the role of director of Business Development and Innovation.

Jacobs has joined from Tech Data where he spent eighteen years in both sales and product marketing, most recently as business director responsible for consumer electronics, accessories and new technologies. The distributor has in fact created the role for Jacobs as it looks to strengthen its Innovation arm.

Jacobs will be reporting to Simon Woodman, Exertis business development director and will be responsible for working on bringing new and emerging technologies to market that can create value added solutions for resellers.

“I am delighted to welcome Paul to Exertis,” Woodman said. “He has many years of experience in the distribution channel. Leveraging the opportunities that innovative technology creates in providing new products, services and value propositions that our customers can take to market are key to building growth. Paul’s remit is to help monetise those opportunities, working with ISVs, content providers and other parties to bring these to fruition by creating solutions that drive increased productivity for business and additional profitability for our partners.”

Equally excited about the venture, Jacobs added: “This is an exciting opportunity to leverage next generation technologies and help bring them commercially to market. Exertis has a reputation for being entrepreneurial and first to market in key areas, evidenced by their leadership in the smart tech arena and their drive to promote business VR applications. Scaling those and bringing more, new opportunities for resellers is a challenge that I am looking forward to.”
