Best tech deals of Black Friday 2017

It’s here! The busiest shopping sales day of the year has rolled around once again. With October sales growth taking a hit, it appears that Brits are holding out for a sales shopping spree. Black Friday 2017 is set to smash all kinds of records with last year’s £7 billion spend set to be eclipsed by UK consumers hunting the best bargain buys.

And as always there are major technology deals to be had, as the price of everything from TVs to phones and games consoles is slashed. Comparing retailers from Amazon to Currys PC World and everyone in between, the team at PCR has rounded up the top deals catching our attention.

Top phone deal

iPhone 7 – O2 – £50 handset (with BLACKFRI25 code) – unlimited calls and texts – 12GB data – £29 per month

Yes, we know what you’re thinking: why would I get an iPhone 7 now that the 8 and X are out? Well, you’d get one because they still have most of the same functions at a fraction of the cost. While there are cheaper 7 deals on the market, O2 are offering 12GB of data for just £29 per month – which is perfect for those who use their phones to run their lives. In total the phone costs a measly £746 over 24 months.

Top TV deal

Acer Z650 Predator 1080p Short Throw Gaming Projector – £699

Now this was a tricky one. Every TV ever produced seems to have been given the Black Friday treatment. That’s why we’re cheating and picking a projector instead. With £200 knocked off, the Acer Z650 Predator is cheaper than some TVs on the market. Available on Amazon, the projector produces a 100-inch screen size from just 1.5 metres away.

Top laptop deal

Microsoft Surface Pro 128GB – £849

Down from £1,099, the Microsoft Surface Pro with Intel Core i5 CPU, 128GB SSD and an included Typecover is available for £250 less. Not only is it our ‘Top laptop deal’ but it is the best deal we could find available at Currys PC World. That said, just like TVs, almost every laptop retailer is slashing the prices on their entire stock.

Top wearables deal

Fitbit Alta – £69.99

Down from £99.99, the Fitbit Alta is a snip at just £30. Much like the iPhone deal, the Alta isn’t the latest incarnation of the Fitbit fitness tracker, however it provides much the same functionality. If it is a fitness tracker – and not a smart watch – you are after, then you’d struggle to get a better deal on better product.

Top smart home deal

Google Home – £78

Another top deal available at Currys PC World, the Google Home product is down from £129. Amazon is also offering cut prices to its Echo range, but then again when aren’t Echo devices on sale? A great price for a full-size version of a smart speaker and hard to be beaten.
