If you ask anyone in the Channel about graphics cards right now they will tell you that they are in short supply. It would seem that any available stock is being eaten up by cryptocurrency miners who are looking to get in on ever-growing currencies like Bitcoin and Ethereum. Now ASUS is looking to capitalise by launching its own cards specifically focused on mining.
The Mining RX 470 and Mining P106 are two new graphics cards specifically built to serve the needs of the burgeoning global coin-mining community. The company says that they feature high-efficiency designs for maximum hash-rate performance at minimum cost.
But what’s the difference between these and the standard graphics cards?
Well, compared with non-mining graphics cards, both are designed to be ultra-durable and equipped to run around the clock to produce the coins. In particular, Mining P106 enhances the megahash rate by up to 36 per cent and both include a feature called ‘GPU Tweak’ that makes clock-speed and voltage tuning easy. This all leads to cards that ASUS says will last two times longer than their equivalent non-mining products.
