British consumers will be the biggest Christmas spenders in Europe despite Brexit

British shoppers will spend £77.56 billion during the Christmas shopping season this year, new research has predicted. 

This research commissioned by VoucherCodes.co.uk operator RetailMeNot, suggests that despite the economic uncertainty caused by Brexit .The UK will continue to be the top spenders this holiday season.

The international study surveyed over 450 major retailers across nine different countries, and 3,000 shoppers to give insights into how muchshoppers will spend.

The average British household will spend £809.97 this Christmas, an increase of 50 per cent over the European average of £540.42.

At least 58.5 per cent of British shoppers will spend a majority of their money on gifts, bringing £8.87 billion to UK retailers. 

Shopping on mobile devices will be one of the key drivers for growth, and will increase by 51.2 per cent compared to last year. 

The research shows that ecommerce will continue to increase, with every fourth pound of Christmas sales spent online.
