Leaked photos of HTC Bolt shows phone will not have headphone jack

HTC earlier this week announced its new Desire line of smartphones and now leaked images show a new phone – believed to be called the HTC Bolt – which looks to be without a headphone jack.

The leaked photo was posted on Twitter by Evan Blass (@evleaks). From the photo, the device looks very similar to the HTC 10 with similar antenna lines and the rear camera being placed centrally.

That’s not the only difference, though. The front camera is placed on the left side of the earpiece while the sensors populate the other. At the back, the dual-LED flash is also positioned above the camera module instead of being placed on the right side. There also appears to be two SIM card slots on the left edge of the HTC Bolt.

The biggest difference is the aforementioned omission of a 3.5mm headphone jack. The HTC 10 features a headphone jack on the device’s top edge but in the photo posted by Blass, there is no such port to be found on the device.

This news comes a couple of weeks after Apple announced that – in a move that took "courage" – the latest iPhone would not have a headphone jack. If the leaked photo is correct, HTC may be following suit. It is likely that, similar to the iPhone, the Bolt will come with an adapter for the phone’s USB Type-C port.

Other than the leaked photo, there’s no information yet on the handset’s specs. HTC hasn’t officially announced the Bolt, but The Verge has speculated that it will be unveiled on Oct. 18, the same date shown on the device’s leaked photo.
