Chinese tech site Benchlife has published what it claims to be the specs of the new, entry-level Nvidia GTX 1050 GPU.
The source alleges that the card – based on Pascal – will feature a new chip and will be based on the same FinFET architecture that is featured on the flagship Titan X.
Nvidia has so far introduced three Pascal chips in the 10-series: The GP102 for Titan X, GP104 for GTX 1080 and GTX 1070 and GP106 for GTX 1060. The 1050 should – if the above screenshot is to be believed – see the introduction of a brand new chip, known as GP107. The GP107 would be the smallest Pascal chip unless NVIDIA plans to intro a GP108 GPU. The specific codename for the SKU being used on GTX 1050 is allegedly GP107-400, indicating that the chip is the fully enabled SKU with no disabled cores.
The news that Nvidia is making another entry into the 10-series range of GPUs should hardly come as a surprise given the company’s track history. It is expected that the 1050 should also be making its way to notebooks.
Benchlife claims that the GTX 1050 will hit shelves in October and that Nvidia has no intention of shutting down production of the GTX 950 and 960.
It is expected that the GTX 1050 will be positioned between AMD’s Radeon RX470 and RX460, though pricing right now is purely speculative.
PCR has reached out to Nvidia, but the company has declined to comment.
