Intel says that its that hiring of underrepresented minorities is ‘progressing in the right direction, while female representation and retention are trending positively’.
The tech giant has released its 2016 Diversity in Technology mid-year report, which illustrates its progress in the first half of this year around its commitment to ‘achieve full representation of women and underrepresented minorities’ in its US workforce by 2020.
Intel has created several new programs designed to improve retention of diverse talent and foster a culture of inclusion.
For the first time, Intel has evaluated pay data across races/ethnicities, achieving 99 per cent pay equity for minorities, a gap that the company is working to close in second half of 2016.
Intel’s goals are backed by a $300 million ‘Diversity in Technology’ Initiative that includes increasing the company’s spending with diverse suppliers, investing the education pipeline and combating online harassment.
It has also partnered with ESL to launch AnyKey, an initiative promoting diversity and women in eSports.
