‘PCR Women of the Year can become a serious long term event’

With nominations now open for the 2016 Women of the Year awards, the 2014 PCR Women of the Year headline sponsor Entatech looks back on the inaugural event, in this blog post by its marketing manager Steven Parker.

Entatech look ahead to continued momentum, following a successful Woman of the Year Awards.

When PCR announced its first Woman of the Year Award earlier this year, there was a buzz of interest in the tech and PC channel. An event dedicated specifically to the leading female lights in the industry was guaranteed to raise some attention, and the message needed to hit exactly the right spot.

PCR’s original announcement of 50 nominees asserted a strong response, and put faces to some of the channel’s main female players. Clarity of their individual achievements, and personal insights, dismissed any fears that this was going to be just another nominal awards event.

Entatech’s Jon Atherton explains: "Our decision to take on the mantle of headline sponsor for the event was not taken lightly, and we weighed up our involvement with great care. What was our message, what could we offer the event?

"In the end, the decision to put the Entatech brand behind the Woman of the Year Awards has proved to be a good one. Home House in Portman Square, provided a luxurious backdrop to a hugely beneficial networking opportunity, and an industry spectacle that held its own, as a serious long term player."

Nancy Hammervik from CompTIA, gave an insightful speech to a room full of anticipation, prior to the announcement of the first ever winner. The message was clear, and outlined the changes, the hard work, and the increasing opportunities available for women within tech.

Jon Atherton had the honour of unveiling the winner, and the announcement of Dell UK’s Sarah Shields was greeted with an exceptionally positive response. Clearly delighted and surprised, Sarah now carries the banner for successful women in tech through to 2015.

Entatech is looking forward to a host of continued news and insights from the PCR team, to maintain the positive awareness created by this event. If Entatech can play a part in continuing the momentum, our investment will be rewarded in droves.
