A TP-LINK domain used to configure some of its routers has apparently expired, but the networking vendor says this won’t bring about any security issues for its customers.
The domain – tplinklogin.net – allows users to access certain TP-LINK routers instead of using an IP address.
However, it seems that this domain have expired, according to Neowin, and if someone was able to obtain it, they could potentially gain access to – and wreak havoc with – people’s devices.
At the moment, when owners of certain TP-LINK routers attempt to access tplinklogin.net, reports suggest they will be directed somewhere other than the router login page.
Domain parking broker Above.com is currently accepting offers for the domain.

However, a TP-LINK spokesperson told PCR: "I have had confirmation from head office that we have not been using tplinklogin.net – and this has not been used since 2014.
"Any products purchased at that time using the old domain will be automatically redirected to the internal set up page, so there will not be any security issues.
"The following are our current domains for different products:

Range Extender: http://tplinkrepeater.net
Wireless PLC: http://tplinkplc.net"
