New Gear: Samsung’s 15TB SSD, AMD Athlon X4 880K, first Apple Watch-controlled robot vacuum

Here’s our roundup of the latest hardware, components, peripherals and products from the tech and IT channel announced this week.

SAMSUNG 15TB V-NAND SSD
Samsung has released what it claims to be the world’s biggest SSD. The 2.5in drive comes with 15.36TB of space and read/write speeds of 1200MBps. The drive is built on 512 Samsung 256Gbit V-NAND (3D NAND) chips.

AMD ATHLON X4 880K
AMD has some new additions to its 2016 desktop processor family, including the Athlon X4 880K, which is the fastest multi-core Athlon processor ever made, boasting a 4.2 GHz maximum turbo frequency, an unlocked clock multiplier, and a $94.99 price point. Also in the range is the new A10-7890K, which is the fastest AMD desktop APU released to date. It has an RRP of $165.99.

NEATO BOTVAC CONNECTED
The Neato Botvac Connected robot vacuum claims to be the first that can be controlled by an Apple Watch. Users can start, stop and monitors Neato’s Wi-Fi enabled vacuum, which has an RRP of £549.99.

ARBOR PC/104 SBC MODULE
ARBOR Technology has announced the release of Arbor Em104-i230F PC/104 SBC Module. The SBC module is based on the new Intel Atom processors E3800 family and offers a compelling entry price for this form factor. The Intel Atom processors E3800 family features a low thermal design power (TDP) from 6 watts to 10 watts.

HYPERX CLOUD REVOLVER HEADSET
HyperX will be showcasing its Cloud Revolver Headset at the Intel Extreme Masters World Championship. The firm’s Cloud and Cloud II headsets will also be on show. HyperX will have numerous sponsored teams battling it out including NaVi, EnVyUs, Luminosity, Team Liquid and TSM, and will power the competition systems.

WD 8TB DRIVES
WD has unveiled 8TB capacity drives for NAS, video surveillance and desktop external applications. Launching throughout the first half of 2016, My Cloud personal storage devices, My Book external hard drives, WD Red, WD Red Pro and WD Purple hard drives will all be designed with the new high-capacity configuration. Each storage solution offers purpose-driven engineering and HelioSeal helium-technology with the new 8 TB drives.

ADVANTECH 18.5-INCH HD ULTRA SLIM MONITOR
Advantech has announced the release of the IDS-3118W, an 18.5” multi-touch open frame touch monitor. It is specifically designed to meet “end users’ needs” in terms of ID design, operating interface, and installation.

TP-LINK ALL-IN-ONE SMART HOME ROUTER
TP-LINK’s new SR20 Smart Home Router is an all-in-one router and Internet of Things (IoT) hub with ZigBee, Z-Wave and a touchscreen. In addition to compatibility with devices from other manufactures, TP-LINK is also introducing a full line of home automation devices for security, lighting and energy management that will work with SR20.

VIEWSONIC XG AND VX57 MONITORS
ViewSonic has a new XG series of professional gaming monitors and VX57-MHD multimedia displays. Featuring low input lag technology, fast response times, Full HD and 4K UHD resolution, as well as AMD FreeSync technology compatibility, the new XG and VX monitors promise a glitch-free experience. Pricing and availability is as follows:
– XG2401: £249, starts shipping mid April
– XG2700-4K: £499, starts shipping late April
– VX2257-mhd: £119, available now
– VX2457-mhd: £139, available now
– VX2757-mhd: £199, available now

TOSHIBA HK4 ENTERPRISE SATA SSD
Toshiba has unveiled its first enterprise SSD, the HK4. The read-intensive HK4R Series combines capacities up to 1.92TB with low operating power and is suitable for enterprise applications such as web servers, files servers, media streaming, video-on-demand, search engines and warm data storage. The HK4E value-endurance drive offers an endurance level of three DWPD and a capacity up to 1600GB. It is well suited for data centres and mixed workload applications. The drives will be available in April 2016.

CORSAIR VOID SURROUND HEADSET
Corsair has announced the immediate availability of the Corsair VOID Surround and Corsair VOID Wireless RGB White headsets. Offering universal compatibility for PC, PS4 and Xbox One, the VOID Surround has an MSRP of $79.99, and the VOID Wireless RGB in white has an MSRP of $129.99.

D-LINK SMART HOME SECURITY KIT
D-Link has extended its home product range with the launch of a new Smart Home Security Kit. It offers four essential products to automate home security – a connected home hub, day and night HD camera, siren, and door and window sensor. The kit is available now with an RRP of £138.94.

SANDISK EXTREME PRO MICROSDXC UHS-II
SanDisk has introduced the world’s fastest microSD card. The SanDisk Extreme PRO microSDXC UHS-II card enables action camera, drone and smartphone users to offload huge video files at unprecedented speeds. The 64GB and 128GB SanDisk Extreme PRO microSDXC UHS-II cards feature a lifetime limited warranty, and will be available worldwide in Q2 at U.S. MSRPs of $179.99 and $299.99 respectively.

XGIMI Z4 AURORA SMART LED PROJECTOR
The XGIMI Z4 Aurora is a Smart LED projector that promises to transform any surface into a 300-inch screen. It has a built-in Harman Kardon stereo and the ability to play video in 3D. It runs Android OS and has gesture control. It is currently running an Indiegogo campaign for funding which you can check out here.

AOC 32-INCH CURVED GAMING MONITOR
AOC will be showcasing its recently released C3583FQ curved gaming monitor during this year’s CeBIT. With its 2000 mm radius, the AOC C3583FQ is more curved than other conventional curved monitors ‘and thus provides users with a fully immersive experience for games, streams, movies and more’. It boasts a refresh rate of 160 Hz, Adaptive-Sync technology (compatible with FreeSync, with a 45 to 160 Hz range out of the box) and Wide Full HD resolution (2560 x 1080 pixels).
