Jawbone to increase retail presence with the help of Tech Data

Distributor Tech Data plans to strengthen the presence of wearable tech brand Jawbone in the retail sector and explore new vertical markets.

Tech Data will make use of its extensive reach in the UK consumer technology channel to extend availability of the UP by Jawbone range to additional retail outlets.

The distributor will also be working to recruit specialist partners and drive awareness and customer demand in specific areas, including the fashion, pharmaceuticals, and insurance industries.

“The UP range of Jawbone wearable activity trackers is becoming an increasingly familiar sight on the wrists of consumers. By combining the unique design of UP activity trackers with the award-winning UP app, Jawbone provides the best-in-class wellness solution,” said Michael Cain, business development manager for Wearable Technologies at Tech Data.

“Tech Data will be drawing on all its experience and capabilities in the consumer electronics sector to build Jawbone’s presence in the market and meet the diverse needs of retailers. We will also be focusing on specialist outlets and websites, such as those selling fashion, pharmacy and health products, to open up new areas of growth potential. We believe there is vast potential in this area of the market for Jawbone.”

Tech Data will also use its experience in B2B to drive opportunities in the insurance sector, where the consensual use of activity trackers is already being explored by companies to help them monitor the health and behaviour patterns of customers.
