PC monitor specialist AOC is working on a new line of gaming products set to launch between the end of Q1 and Q3 this year, PCR can exclusively reveal.
The sub-brand will be known as ‘Agon’, which is an ancient Greek word for referring to ‘a struggle or contest’, and in the broader sense, a contest in athletics.
This could suggest the brand will be used to further AOC’s presence in the growing pro-gaming eSports arena.
The vendor already dabbles in competitive gaming, having sponsored Team Infused for more than four years.
PCR understands Agon announcements and prototypes are around the corner, with an official launch expected to take place at an AOC 2016 industry reseller event.
An inside source said: "We will have a full line up by the end of the year in the gaming range under the Agon sub-brand. All the products will be under the AOC gaming banner. I can tell you one or two products will be game changers."
While official branding has not yet been revealed, AOC filed a trademark in late December featuring an Agon logo.
AOC says it doubled its investment in the UK gaming industry in 2015. It has launched several PC gaming monitors and AMD FreeSync and Nvidia G-Sync monitors over the past 12 months.
