The UK tech channel is transforming at an impressive pace

The UK PC market is transforming at such a pace that won’t be fully realised until we look back on this period a few years down the line.

Black Friday has completely altered how retailers sell over the festive period, and we’re arguably still finding our feet in this area.

Should physical stores get involved? What’s the best way to drive sales without crashing your website? Is Black Friday even worth it? These are all questions that we’ll be able to better answer in the coming years.

Changes are afoot on the High Street too. Keep your eyes peeled for a big tech retail announcement on in early December, plus you can read what Michael Dell has to say about the importance of retail in an interview with PCR in our December issue.

On the cloud computing front, both Amazon and Microsoft are fighting to launch UK-based datacentres.

For a closer look at some of the other changes happening in the PC market, check out our 2016 predictions and CompTIA’s State of the Channel report in the new issue.

We’re also making a few changes here at PCR. Following our reader survey, you spoke and we listened. We’re introducing a new regular ‘Tricks of the Trade’ feature offering advice on a different topic each month to help you boost your business. We’ll also have marketing tips from a different expert each month, starting with Gemma Telford, as well as a new gaming column.

Interviews with MDs and directors can provide a great insight into a business (see our interviews with the PCR Woman of the Year and VIP’s Rich Marsden in the December issue), but they don’t always tell the full story within a company. In light of this, we’re introducing a Team of the Month profile to highlight some of the seemingly underrated but vital teams in the industry, from warehouse staff to sales teams, HR, store staff and more. If you’re interested in being featured, please drop me an email.

Last but not least, make sure you’re in the running for a PCR Award next year. Get your nominations in now as lobbying closes in a few weeks.
