VIP Computers will be showcasing its range of PC components, gaming peripherals and devices at PCR Boot Camp North 2015.
VIP’s director Richard Marsden said: “PCR Boot Camp North and South are now set in stone in the calendar, and we go there to present and engage with our small indies, so it’s something we’ve really enjoyed attending over the past couple of years.
“We use Boot Camp as an opportunity to engage with our independent retail channel, through our VIP Club programme, so we will be promoting that again. It’s a fantastic opportunity for us to meet customers which we wouldn’t necessarily be able to get out and see.”
This year marks the 25th anniversary of the distributor, with diversity being a key ingredient in the company’s ongoing success.
“We’ve just carried on doing what we do and it’s proven successful for us,” added Marsden.
“We’re looking at different markets – we signed a contract with Durabook six months ago and that’s exclusive for the rugged market. We’ve got a team from our Southern office working on that project.
“We’re launching our own brand tablet in Q4 this year, we’ve got some Windows and Android tablets under our Vortex brand. That’s new, but it’s something that’s standard in our market. It’s nothing that’s outside the norm, so pretty much it’s been business as usual for us.”
With many other companies dealing with tablets reporting a recent slump in sales, that’s not stopped VIP from launching its own brand.
“The first one will be a 10.1-inch Windows tablet, with a keyboard. And the second one will be an Android tablet. So the differentiation in the Android tablet is we’ll give away 12 months free internet security on the device.
“We’ve been working closely with Intel and Microsoft to get the offering off the ground.”
There may be samples of Vortex at this year’s Boot Camp.
