A lot of hype has started to build around Star Wars as the world waits impatiently for the next instalment to the movie franchise, but now fans can get a piece of the action in the form of a laptop.
HP has unveiled its Star Wars Special Edition notebook to mark the impending release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
Inspired by the Galactic Empire, the notebook features a battle-worn, distressed design with ‘Galactic Empire’ written on the hinge, while iconic Stormtroppers also find their place on the keyboard deck.
The touchpad has been designed to emulate the X-Wing Star fighter Guidance System, while a red backlight lights up the entire keyboard.
Customers can choose between sixth generation Intel Core i5 or i7 processors, and Intel HD Graphics 520 or Nvidia GeForce 940M graphics, while 2TB of HDD and up to 12GB of RAM is also included.
Users can also view their favourite Star Wars films on the 15.6-inch diagonal display, which can play back content in Full HD, plus an optical drive is also included.
Louis Perrin, director of consumer products, printing and personal systems group at HP EMEA, said: “HP is delivering an amazing Star Wars experience as the only PC vendor collaborating with Disney and Lucasfilm to create a one-of-a-kind notebook.
“As part of this relationship, we were able to tap into Lucasfilm’s media archives to create custom screen savers, desktop backgrounds and sound profiles – configurable by the customer.”
In addition, users can really tap into their inner Luke Skywalker by clicking on the Imperial Cog desktop icon to be taken to the Star Wars Command Centre. Here users can browse the notebook’s Star Wars themes and galleries, spanning 40 years of the franchise’s history.
Plus, if you’re fed up of hearing the familiar Windows notification tone, there are eight categories of infamous Star War sounds users can choose from to replace it, including R2-D2 and a lightsaber.
Customers will also be able to get hold of the Star Wars Special Edition Sleeve for £29.99, while the notebook will cost £549, both of which will be available in October.
So for those of you who can’t wait for the next film, this notebook may just be able to keep you entertained until the film’s release date in December –` lightsaber not included.
