Distributor Entatech says it has enjoyed "tremendous success" with Microsoft’s Windows 10, with a fivefold growth in sales since the OS launched on July 29th.
Some were unsure how they would make money selling the Windows 10 licence, while others said it would be easier for them to sell new machines and upgrades to customers. Of course, enterprise customers do not qualify for a free download, so sales could be made to that sector as normal.
It’s certainly not been a problem for Enta, as it’s latest information shows.
During Q1, ahead of the Windows 10 launch, Enta saw a 30 per cent decrease in revenues, but says this was "undoubtedly something experienced by all Microsoft distributors".
The distributor adds that it’s the number one distributor for Microsoft OEM in the UK, and admitted it "may have been more eager than any other distributor for the release of Windows 10".
Following the launch of Windows 10, Enta has seen a fivefold growth in sales of the OS, as well as growth in Enta’s share of the OEM marketplace.
As well as that, Entatech says it has seen a surge in its sales of components products as users upgrade their systems.
“Windows10 was a much needed injection of enthusiasm that the industry needed; the demand in late July and August has been particularly pleasing,” said Entatech MD Dave Stevinson.
