Lenovo appoints industry veteran Andy Bass to head up UK channel business

Lenovo has announced that Andy Bass will take on the role of director of SMB and channel for the UK and Ireland.

Bass joins Lenovo with a wealth of knowledge, having worked in the UK and internationally in both distribution and at various vendors, including Toshiba.

He brings over 25 years’ experience to his new role, and will be responsible for driving sales of Lenovo PC, tablet, server and storage products across the channel.

In addition, he is tasked with driving business partner growth and expanding the firm’s SMB customer base.

Prior to his role at Lenovo, Bass worked at CMS Distribution as group sales and marketing director, as well as OpenSymmetry, where he held the role of VP EMEA.

David McQuarrie, VP and general manager for Lenovo, said: “The channel is the cornerstone of business in the UK and Ireland.

"As we pursue our ambitions to drive increased growth within the channel, we are pleased to have announced such an important addition to our team.”

Bass will be based in Lenovo’s office in Hook, and will report to McQuarrie.

Bass added: “Lenovo is a strong brand with bold ambitions for the European market. Following Lenovo’s recent acquisitions it is an exciting time to be joining the business.

"I look forward to working closely with our channel partners in the UK and Ireland to capitalise on our complete end-to-end hardware portfolio and drive continued growth across all products categories.”
