Ebuyer lets MD Stuart Carlisle go as others depart etailer

Ebuyer’s MD Stuart Carlisle has left the business, along with two other members of staff.

Sources close to the situation have told PCR that Ebuyer has let Carlisle go on a ‘wage bill basis’.

PCR understands that head of marketing Sue Pickering has also departed Ebuyer, but the third person is not known.

One source told us that the three members of staff that have had been with Ebuyer for less than two years, and were let go to lower the wage bill, however it is unclear whether that really is the true cause of the staff leaving.

PCR first learnt of these developments last Friday but was seeking clarification before publication.

The Register reports Ebuyer let Carlisle go following a ‘disagreement over strategic direction’ – that he wanted to open bricks and mortar retail stores, and his management didn’t.

However, our source said Carlisle did not leave over a boardroom bust up of this sort.

The report states that Ebuyer will now be run by FD Mark Pullen and board director Armando Sanchez.

The news comes after Ebuyer announced a rejig of its buying teams, as well as the opening of a B2B sales office in Sheffield.

PCR reached out to Ebuyer but a spokesperson said they have "nothing to add over what has already been reported".

We’ll update this article with further developments as we hear more.

PCR took a tour of Ebuyer’s warehouse and interviewed Carlisle in an exclusive behind the scenes look earlier this year.
